Shohei Ohtani's American League rival is no longer in the running
Shohei Ohtani's free agency destination is still unknown,
but one team that may have formerly expressed interest in signing him now seems to be out of the picture.
Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports that the Seattle Mariners are effectively out on Ohtani and have no realistic chance of acquiring him.
Over the course of the previous year or two, there have been rumors that the Mariners are among the teams setting up to try to get Ohtani.
Ohtani's exorbitant cost may have been the tipping point for the Mariners.
However, some of their supporters may still be let down. It was widely reported that at the All-Star Game of the previous year,
Mariners supporters made an attempt to recruit Ohtani, who expressed a strong connection to the city.As Ohtani approaches free agency,
he and his team are keeping things under wraps. The favorite is thought to be the Los Angeles Dodgers.
