Rookie for the Red Sox hurt; probably out for the season

The Red Sox have suspended rookie Triston Casas from baseball activities,

the team informed reporters (including Pete Abraham and Alex Speier of The Boston Globe) two days after placing Casas on the injured list.

The young first baseman's season is likely over with only 12 games left to play on Boston's schedule.

Although the team is still awaiting the findings of the MRI, they do not yet have any cause to suspect that the injury ,

is more serious than the first "right shoulder inflammation" diagnosis.

Nevertheless, they are going with the 23-year-old slugger in order to be safe.

Even though the Red Sox are still mathematically alive, their chances of making the postseason are extremely minimal.

With 12 games left, they are 8.5 games out of a Wild Card spot, and FanGraphs projects their postseason probability to be less than 0.1%. As a result,
