In an interview with, executive producer Maril Davis discussed the complaints fans have made regarding the season,

 stating that Jamie Heugan and Claire Balfe have not been as prominent as they should have been.

"We try to follow the books as much as possible, and this really does follow the books," Davis remarked, "so I am kind of surprised by that.
