How the Bulls' situation with Zach LaVine is developing

According to league sources familiar with the situation, the Chicago Bulls began assessing the trade value of two-time All-Star guard Zach LaVine this offseason,

even offering LaVine to several teams in search of packages comparable to recent superstar returns. Following a 4-8 start to the 2023-24 season

Chicago and LaVine are both interested in finding a trade for the athletic scorer, according to sources.

The Bulls have been the subject of heated debate, with reports claiming that the team is on the verge of disbanding.

To many in the NBA, Chicago's situation feels like the culmination of an unavoidable trend. During this summer's FIBA World Cup,

starting centre Nikola Vuevi told Yahoo Sports that the Bulls' players — including the All-Star centre, LaVine, and DeMar DeRozan — all recognised the opportunity that this third full season together presented.

"We know we can, and we have to do better," Vuevi said in August. "And we know it's kind of our last chance as this core of guys to do something."

Despite this, the offseason additions of Torrey Craig and Jevon Carter have not helped elevate Chicago in the standings, which have become increasingly crowded with postseason contenders in the league's new era of the play-in tournament.
