Francis Ford Coppola Tributes Pour in After Godfather Director, 84, Makes Official Announcement

"One of the greatest surprises in life is realising you're old," Francis Ford Coppola says in a new announcement issued lately.

"But there is a gentle comfort coming from that, as everyone loves stories and long-ago adventures told by their Grandpa," says the author of the book.

The director of such renowned films as The Godfather series and Apocalypse Now made the remark when,

at the age of 84, he joined social media for the first time to share details about his forthcoming project Megalopolis.

The film is the newest passion of a director who has nothing to prove but lots of stories to tell, and it stars Adam Driver, Forest Whitaker, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jon Voight, and Lawrence Fishburne.

Coppola noted in his introduction that he was using social media for the first time because "my hope is to give you a glimpse into my life and journey in making the most interesting film of my career, @Megalopolisfilm." The director's most recent film was Megalopolis.

This will perhaps explain some of the doubts that have been raised about the film, which is one of Coppola's most ambitious endeavours during his distinguished career.

A rumour that there was mayhem on the Megalopolis set was debunked earlier this year by Francis Ford Coppola and Adam Driver, both of whom worked on the film.
