FC Cincinnati was shown what color Ohio is by the Columbus Crew.

MLS life after Lucas Zelarayán is going well for the Columbus Crew, who defeated FC Cincinnati 3-0 at Lower.com Field Sunday night.

Aidan Morris (15'), Cucho Hernández (23', PK), and Jacen Russell-Rowe (90+6') scored in a blowout win over the club's bitter rivals and Eastern Conference and Supporters' Shield leaders.

In this summer's Leagues Cup, the Crew defeated Liga MX giants Club América 4-1, their second big win since signing club veteran Zelarayán to the Saudi Pro League.

Sunday night's effort was more crucial, opening the last stretch of their 2023 MLS regular season with a bang as the club integrates summer additions Rossi, Gressel, and Camacho.

“Of course it's a rivalry, of course it's a big derby, and of course it means a lot to everyone,” Crew assistant coach Yoann Damet, who replaced Wilfried Nancy, said postgame.

But the boys just want to trust the process and perform week after week.

“Enjoying in the team is the mindset. That tireless pursuit of greatness.” Morris opened the scoring with a long-range golazo, boosting his stock and garnering Damet's praise for his single pivot play.

We know Aidan's qualities. A young player, we forget that, stated the coach of the US international. “He’s a young player with much to improve. But tonight he displays his potential.”
