Amidst continuing talks with LIV Golf sponsor, Rory McIlroy steps down from the PGA Tour Policy Board.
As PGA Commissioner Jay Monahan informed players in an email on Tuesday that the tour is working toward sealing a contract with the Saudi Public Investment Fund
the financial backer of LIV Golf, Rory McIlroy resigned from his role as player director of the PGA Tour Policy Board this week.
Monahan and the PGA Tour confirmed the 24-time winner's resignation on Tuesday, citing "personal and professional commitments."
Throughout his tenure, Rory's insight has been instrumental in helping shape the success of the tour
and his willingness to thoughtfully voice his opinion has been especially impactful
We completely appreciate and support Rory's choice to step aside in order to concentrate on his game and his family
especially in light of the enormous time and effort he, along with all of his fellow player directors
have committed in the tour during this historic, transformative time in our history.
McIlroy's resignation was first reported by The New York Times.
The end of the year is the deadline for the framework agreement.
